Building Division Schedule

The building official will be available most days to answer questions and review plans for smaller projects at the counter from 9 - 10 AM. Other times by appointment only. You must schedule an appointment with the building official for the review of larger multi-family and commercial projects.

Please allow at least 30 days after filing for the building official to review your permit application and revisions. Building permits requiring zoning approval (Section 8-3 of the CT General Statutes) cannot be issued until such approval is granted. The same holds true for permits involving fire marshal approval, wetlands approval, and health district approval. The health district and the two fire districts are not part of town government.

Please schedule inspections at least 48 hours in advance!

Inspections and plan reviews are scheduled as follows:

Monday Through Friday

Morning:    Between 10 AM and 12 noon

Afternoon:    Between 2 and 4 PM.

The Town of Bloomfield has a Building official, and four assistant Building Officials, who are responsible for performing plan reviews and all the inspections including building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections in addition to other duties related to enforcement of the 2022 CT State Building Code with Amendments.
