Building Division Schedule

The Building Inspection Staff is available to answer questions and review plans for smaller projects in person at the counter during the following hours:

• 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
• 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

For larger multi-family and commercial projects, an appointment with the Building Inspection Staff is required.

Building Inspectors are also available outside of these hours by appointment only. Please contact the Building Division to schedule an appointment @ 860.769.3516.

Please allow at least 30 days for the review of your building permit application and any revisions after submission. Building permits requiring zoning approval (as outlined in Section 8-3 of the CT General Statutes) cannot be issued until zoning approval is granted. The same applies to permits requiring approval from the Fire Marshal, Wetlands Commission, and Health District. Please note, the Health District and fire districts are independent entities, not part of town government.

Inspection Scheduling:

• Inspections must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.
• Available inspection time slots are Monday through Friday:
  • Morning: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Afternoon: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

The Town of Bloomfield’s Building Division is staffed by the Building Official, three full-time Assistant Building Officials, and one part-time Assistant Building Official. They are responsible for performing inspections for building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work, as well as conducting plan reviews and enforcing the 2022 Connecticut State Building Code with Amendments.
